MERCEDES-BENZ![]() ![]() ![]() In 1896 Harry Vardon won the Open Championship at Muirfield, the first of his record 6 Open Championships and the start of his golfing legend. Aptly, the golf club at Muirfield, known as the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, is the oldest organised golf club in the world. Also in 1896 Karl Benz created the first petrol engine car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, thus beginning the legend that is today Mercedes-Benz automobiles, the oldest automotive brand still in existence.
It seems appropriate therefore that over 100 years later Mercedes-Benz is one of the strongest partners in world golf, at both the amateur and professional levels. Over 60,000 recreational golfers compete very year in the Mercedes Trophy, the largest amateur golf event in the world. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz are a select partner to the Open, US Masters and USPGA Championships. To further enhance its association with the grand old game, Mercedes-Benz has chosen Adam Scott to represent the company as a global ambassador. Adam will feature the Mercedes-Benz logo on his golfing clothing as well as being involved in worldwide advertising campaigns. Adam has long been regarded as an athlete exhibiting integrity, sophistication and technical excellence. Attributes that have served him well in his profession. Mercedes-Benz range of vehicles and corporate identity also embody these virtues, developing and maintaining an aspiration brand. A great car, like a great golfer, requires a dynamic chassis, with a sensitive touch. Little wonder that Mercedes-Benz and Adam Scott have much in common. Let's enjoy watching these two entities in their pursuit for perfection. "The best or nothing"
